Also my feeling is that if Allen doesn't get this turn back around then I don't think it will ever get turned around.  I just can't see IU being able to bring in proven HC to IU.

I have always wondered if a guy like Urban Myer came to IU. Could he have the same success that he has had at his other stops.  Could he bring in the same level recruits to IU that he did at Florida or OSU.  I think coaches like Myer or Saban are great coaches but they have been in great situations ad well.

He could. Would they win National Championships? No, but we’d win 8+ games consistently. But he seems like a creep. Allen’s getting paid good dough, so let’s see what he can do when the going gets really tough.

Sheridan has got to go, and I don’t call for guy’s heads much. This season has been a disaster. I know we’ve had a lot of injuries, but getting blown out at home by Rutgers and not scoring a TD? Like WTF. I think Allen is a good leader, but he needs to surround himself with good x’s and o’s guys and it doesn’t seem that Sheridan is that.

… it's one thing getting blown out by good teams, getting an ass whipping like this from Rutgers? From highest of highs to lowest of lows in such short time shows some sort of disfunction. It's actually pretty unbelievable. In college you should be able to scheme a few scores a game, and they can't even do that.

I finally watched the game... I think a lot of you are overreacting to one game.

I'm not going to say I'm encouraged but I'm certainly not discouraged. We have a good team that should be a solid tournament team.

The flow is much better, they just seemed to become disinterested once they were up by 20. Veterans and guys off the bench need to help maintain any sort of momentum. Although I don't think our shooting issues are just going to magically disappear, I like (for the most part) that people were taking the open shot. I don't think guys like Race or Phinesee should be taking them early in the shot clock though. But it is just one game and even Woody said the offense was behind the defense. The defense was there for the most part. BUT, we have to start attacking the hot hand. For whatever reason, IU always seems to have someone go off on them at some point in the game. Granted, this dude was like 0-100 when he started hooping, Woody and/or a guy like Fife need to say in the huddle, "who the hell is going to shut this guy down!" EMU didn't do much outside of Frarrakhan. But when one guy starts getting hot, I am anxious to see who will be the stopper.

I would take Bell over any receiver in the country.  If he were at Bama the hype would be ridiculous.  Karlaftis is an animal too.  It is what it is.

Having said that, McFadden deserves just as many accolades.  He might be my favorite IU defender of my lifetime over a guy like Ogunleye.

Too bad he’s not getting much help. Seems like IU only gets blitz or coverage sacks.

I'm good with that and appreciate what you bring.

That being said, I'm pretty close to ignoring the recruit forums for awhile.  I can always catch up after a verbal.  It's kind of like Facebook...I looked today and I'm down to averaging about 11 minutes a day there.  I won't completely cut it off because I have friends and family I want to keep up with, but it's liberating to not feel chained to it anymore.  I'm ready to not feel chained to a bunch of kids who end up going to other schools.

@IU Scott, maybe you should join me in shunning the recruit forum for awhile...we can be "old school" together! 😜

That being said, this is when I come around the boards the most, to get the pulse one way or another. Recruiting or hiring/firing are the most "forum" topics you get. The other times is to celebrate a big win. I stay away from the forums after a loss, when it's all gloom and doom, while others dive deeper into the abyss.

  7. I love the insider information, but I would guess it's all very speculative unless the source is the actual kid or an immediate family member. I would also guess some leaks are planted to see who's leaking. If nothing else, we're talking about kids here, their minds change and they are highly influenceable, in ways you might not ever know. Could simply be meeting a player he bonds with, who knows. It still amazes me how many people get angry about this stuff. Some on another board are already saying this is "concerning", like can we at least let the new regime play a GAME first before the negativity train starts up again. Winning is the elixir for a program. If they recruited all 400 ranked players and won, who would really care? And if you don't like rumors, why would you ever be on these boards?

    I’ll point out some positives.

McCulley looked good. I could see him settle in.

The OL seemed improved. Maybe that wasn’t the case, but it seemed to improve.

Carr had some good runs. 2&5 is SO much different than 2&9-11.

Losing Matthews and Ellis hurts. They were probably the two best play makers in space.

Sounds like Mullen wasn’t 100% and Taylor was out. That’s a big hit to the secondary.

Injuries have played a huge part in this season's results. Preseason rankings don't mean sh*t until games are played. Allen is the perfect guy for this team. Our schedule is brutal. Made some strides today on offense (finally) but the defense couldn't get off the field at the key moments. IU's normally reliable kicker missed a 40 yarder but made a 55 yard bomb. If we were a bit healthier we beat MSU and Maryland, and maybe even Cincy. But injuries are apart of the game and so will be transfers. This season sucks, but I like the effort and McCulley looks legit, very smooth and a good arm, he's just playing like a Freshman.

    -2nd half we gave up 3rd and 12 and 3rd and 13.

Add that to not getting pts after the blocked punt. That's the difference in the game. Damn.

    McCulley could really use Matthews.

Losing Matthews was huge. He was the best player on offense when he went down.

    look at the mentions

I would say some of the replies are a bit harsh. What type of real news did anyone really expect from him, especially after the comments about 7ish. It was pretty obvious it was about his podcast. Not sure what real news they really thought this dude would have? So I don’t really get the insistent negative replies. Can’t they just come here to complain about him like the rest of us 😀 and leave Rob and Xavier out of the Twitter hostility.

So Indiana has just been unlucky?  I mean other schools have weight training and conditioning programs as well, but don't appear to be as snakebit by injuries as we have been over the past decade.

I think there is a place for the training, it happens in every program...but the injury bug to key pieces is just a constant with this program.

Yeah, last time this was mentioned in another thread/post (I was a part of the discussion) there were a few "you're not a trainer so you have no idea what you're talking about" replies. I believe one person mentioned the old wives tale about basketball and lifting not mixing, the other part of the thread raised legitimate questions because a lot of the players seemed to have very similar back injuries.  I don't really mind the blowback, but why can't we question this part of the program like any other? Last time I checked, most on the forum haven't coached or recruited in the Big Ten either, but those aspects of the program are regularly questioned.
