Reneau. That was a typo. Reneau is undersized, doesn't rebound well enough, isn't a rim protector and is in constant foul trouble. If he's the starting 5 then IU will most likely be worse than they were this year in the B1G.

Then he really shouldn’t play much IMO. Doesn’t really fit. Give me this guy from Stanford and tell Reneau he needs to find another home. Can’t have a guy his size that doesn’t rebound, doesn’t play D, turns it over like crazy, and doesn’t shoot it well from outside of 5 ft.

not sure why I look at this thread. It should be locked up. I don’t care anything about a Purdue kid or how good he will be the same why about any other big ten player. I care about IU players.

Yeah, I know we’re free to discuss and ignore (as we should be), but this is a damn IU board and Jack Benter keeps popping up at the top of the recruiting threads. Is there a way to block an entire thread!? 😂

except the only person who took time to type a message about how much they don’t care 🤷

False. Best you got? Don’t give two shits about Jack Benter. You probably have 3 people on all of HSN who do. You guys should PM about him so the damn thread can be flushed like it should be.

You can complain and moan about this all you want.  They have more +15 point wins and less +15 point losses than we do compared to the wins/losses.  It's really not hard to figure out the metrics behind what the NET is doing.  Kill the 300+ team you play and don't get your ass handed to you very often by anyone else, then + wins enough to stay in the top 50 and you're pretty golden.  We had way too many mid/low single digit wins against shitty teams early and then gave up to many 15+ losses over the season.  We also win close alot of games.  How many low single digit games do we win by.  No one cares if you win by 1 if you're undefeated or close to it.  But a 18 to 20 win season, you can't win a majority of your games by single digits.  You're going to be considered mediocre.

They have to use something to differentiate the team with similar Quad wins/losses.  What else are they going to look at?  Paint vs 3point scoring?  Rebounds? Efficiency maybe?

All this is coming from me, who knows nothing about anything, so take what i say and ignore it

Yeah, I think people continue to ignore that the NET is more about “efficiency” numbers. We can have an almost identical record in many facets as MSU with a head to head win, but it doesn’t mean we played better basketball than MSU to get to those numbers, comparatively to the field. Didn’t somebody post not too long ago that we had been one of the luckiest teams this year? And that’s with us still being 19-13 😬. The NET’s object is to rank the most efficient, or in their words the best teams based on play, not result per se over the course of the year. Although the play typically determines the result. My guess is we don’t beat MSU on a neutral court. 🤷🏻‍♂️

In the last four games against PSU (across two coaches for them), PSU is 47-97 from three (48.5%), IU is 13-62 (21%). PSU outscores IU on average, by 25+ per game from three.

But hey, it’s not that important to make threes if you can dominate the paint. (Where is that damn coffee emoji!)

I ran into Coach Marshall and his 2 boys getting a fountain drink at the gas station the other day. i had a masters golf tee shirt on and he started talking to me about golf. He never said who he was , what he did. just a nice guy talking to a stranger. I went to leave and said nice chatting with you coach, he smiled.

Clif only has one son. His son is blonde haired, 8-9 yrs old. Also has a daughter who is 12-13 years old. His son probably had a buddy with him.

This just goes to show you how some kids feel about their coach and what he/she does for them. That's what is most important to them,....that they're happy and feel they're in the right place.

I was super surprised with the support what they said about Coach Woodson and the current state.

It's no secret that I feel we need a change in direction and a fresh voice to this team, but it's not up to me. At this point, I will just have to wish for the best and a stellar off season recruitment in the portal. It has to be that way as well as some new and improved assistant coaches and hopefully an improved Coach Woodson. That's a lot of positive changes needed for this team. Who knows what will happen.... I also wouldn't be surprised it at the end of the season, Dolson comes out and makes a change.

    JMO

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great the team appears to be united and they are sticking up for each other. You want and need that camaraderie in a team. I just think he could have said some positive things about CMW without addressing the fans in any other way than saying “thank you”.

We need to be a little thicker-skinned, then. We could just, you know, listen to AL.

Sure, we all could be in every aspect, and end of the day I don’t care what Leal says nor does it affect my decisions. But that doesn’t mean I can’t have an opinion on it. From his standpoint, I just don’t think the comments were necessary simply from the fact he is going to piss some people off that do have some clout and ability to make negative financial decisions for IU and maybe for him in the future. It comes off as unintelligent to a lot of people. I always go back to the comment Michael Jordan made, “Republicans buy Nikes too”. He seems to be all about his brand, so whether you think it’s crazy or not, don’t alienate people that could possibly enhance your brand.

So happy for TJD. Dude is killing it.

Can’t believe that many teams passed on him in the draft.

I’m thrilled for him, but I’m in the group that didn’t think he’d excel without a decent shot. Boy was I wrong…. at least so far.

i don't care personally what the players or coach say about true fans.  i think it is a bad move for them though.  i don't see anything good out of being combative with the fan base especially when A.) you have underperformed and B.) it wasn't like it was brought up.  again, if a reporter asks you about it, 100% absolutely support your coach or if you're the coach, support your players.  i would expect nothing else.

Yeah, arguing against your point is ridiculous IMO. We actually have people on here supporting CMW and Leal telling people that have shown up over and over through the crap we’ve seen the last 30+ years to chill out ….smh. This isn’t about supporting your coach. It’s about being smart enough to not insult the people that have put up with the team’s underperformance for many years. You can support CMW without insulting the fans. Doesn’t surprise me that Woodson or XJ talked about “true” fans, but I am surprised Leal wasn’t smart enough to support CMW without insulting some of the fan base. Bottom line, whether people were okay with it or not, it isn’t a smart business decision for him or IU bc you pissed off a large group of people. Not to mention it’s coming from a kid who isn’t a difference maker. 🤷🏻‍♂️ He dropped the ball massively IMO and I expected better from him.

But she didn't go out of her way.... the SC girls were going out of their way to go up to her. Maybe it was out of line, but it wasn't a completely blindsided cheap shot like the last SC girl took on her.

It looks like to me that the girl she shoved (#2) tried to avoid her (physically) but was definitely talking smack. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Regardless not surprised given either coach.

Staley's answer was very PC... but you check her response during the altercation lol... chick doesn't even move after her 6'8 girl clocked the LSU kid.

I will say.... I understand why LSU player's brother was pissed off. It would be very hard for me to have controlled my emotions if I, 3 feet away, just watched my sister get decked by that monstrosity from SC.

Don’t disagree, but wasn’t it a body check/elbow to the chest from the girl that got decked that started the melee? Or did I see things wrong? I only watched it twice.

serious question - for the 1 or 2 Woodson backers - are you also big believers in XJ?  i'm just wondering if that is part of the buy in for the few wanting Woodson back?  do you believe X would have been the difference this season?

I reported this post for instigating and trying to put us through more torture.  Jk 😂

LSU South Carolina women showing their stripes. Cannot stand either coach, I tried to like Dawn Staley, nope.

And Mularkey had enough nerve to say, “I wish that girl had pushed Angel Reese”. Kidding me? No wonder they act like 🤡. I hope any coach of any team I root for simply says, “we can’t allow that to happen. We have to keep our cool, as that can affect future games….” Etc.

If we win today and Illinois beats Iowa we would have the 6 seed...and that path would be winner of Penn St/Michigan, Northwestern, and Illinois....not the worst path in the world in BTT.

Go Hoosiers! Good chance to end season on 4 game winning streak with confidence headed into BTT. Despite the season and all it's challenges 10-10 in conference play isn't a dumpster fire season.

10-10 in the worst Big10 in a long time. Including only two wins against teams above us, neither of which are locks to get in the tournament.  Strongly disagree it’s not been a dumpster fire. But guess it could have been worse.
