You don't think if we win 6 of 7 and finish 12-8 and 20-11 before BTT we get in at all? I'd like to think wins over Northwestern, Wiscy, Sparty,etc....would mean something.

I don’t think our numbers would improve enough to even be on the bubble. I think we’d have to win 6 of 7 and win a couple marque games in the BTT (make the finals?) to even get a thought. A run like that would be impressive, but I think the damage is done. If Wiscy falls out of the top 25, none of the 6 you’re speaking of would be that impressive, especially with Wiscy and MSU at home.

Thanks! Yea I automatically assume anyone that isn’t cracking the top 7-8 in a rotation wants to go elsewhere.

As it stands, do you think Reneau stays? At least on the surface it looks Liam is. Very surprised but happy to hear about Mac. Chris on BTB said his family wants him to go pro next year regardless of draft status. A front court of Queen, Reneau, Mac, and Liam sounds really good! Keep Gallo, add maybe one of Davis or Brown Jr and I think you wouldn’t need to add a ton of extra pieces in the portal (assuming guys like Newton, Cupps, Sparks, and Leal want to stay as depth pieces).

Eh, I disagree in a big way. Liam and a portal PG alone isn’t fixing our issues. I’d like to see at least one true PG (1) come in, another CG (1/2) that can play PG and can shoot it, another wing (2/3), and a guy that’s a lengthy rim protector similar to Ware. I know that’s a tremendous ask, but we’re going to need 4-5 guys if we want to be better than this year . Plodding out a portal PG/Cupps, Gallo, MM, Liam, and Reneau won’t cut it. I’ll be truly disappointed and frustrated if that’s our starting five next year.

It is pretty wild that IUWBB have only lost to top 5 teams on true road games, and are still rated at #14.  I actually like they are being underdogs of sort.

Yeah, was questioning the validity of those rankings myself. Not getting much respect.

@kyhoosier29 In what way am I wrong? If a new coach comes in next year. We wouldn't run him out of town by year 6 if he didn't make it past the Sweet 16 in his first 5 years?

It’s more about being confused by people that just want to accept mediocrity. I’ve already said Woody deserves one more year, but I can also turnaround and ask myself why though? Every important metric involved in basketball has declined with us over the last three years, so why SHOULD we expect different next year? A zebra’s stripes do not change. I hope like hell if he’s here next year that he does. I’m not rooting for him to fail, just don’t think he’s willing to change. I’m at a loss for words if people think his system is just going to work all of a sudden. And his postgame press conferences! Good lord, why does he sound so clueless to the problems? I’m just concerned we’ll be throwing away another year next year. We have one commitment and are looking at losing 5+ kids minimal. Where are replacements coming from? I’m just frustrated and don’t blame anybody for being upset with this year, or for not believing in Woodson. God bless the optimists and the loyalists. I really hope they are right. *I didn’t realize what thread I was in, so I won’t respond anymore about this in this one.*

Against Purdue Leal and Cupps played a combined 34 minutes, and were 0-3 from the field and scored 0 points. I’m not blaming them for the loss, but you can’t win with that type of production from your guards. They’re not even looking to score, and that’s not sustainable. Good or bad, at least when Gunn comes in you have to guard him, because he’s going to let it fly.

I’m not sure you have to guard him, but get your point.

She would magically stop being able to hit a shot or free throws.

I think we go about .4-3 with this schedule.  Beat NW, lose to Nebraska, Rebound and put it to PSU away, Lose to Wisc at homee, Win at Maryland and Minnesota, lose to MSU at home to end the season.

Normally, I’d say you’re nuts thinking we’d beat Northwestern at home, but not Nebraska. I’d switch those two… then winning all three remaining road games…. I’ll take what you’re smoking. Agree with Wiscy bc I’ll be there… auto loss. Would hope we’d beat MSU at home.

But as inconsistent and sporadic as this team is…. you could be right. Who knows!

Play on the court isn't the reason that schools have been hesitant in this recruitment

You speaking of DD or the kid that went to Creighton? I was speaking of the kid that went to Creighton. Off court issues with DD? If he’s not a PG that can get his own shot and shoot it relatively well, he doesn’t move the needle for me. But I haven’t seen him play so I can’t make an educated assessment. Normally I’d say I’ll trust the staff to make the right choice, but I don’t think I’m in that boat anymore.

Can you guys please keep this thread on the women.  They’re having another great year so talk about them.  If you’re going to trash the men there are plenty of other threads to do that elsewhere.  Good lord.  The ladies just won by 32.  Without Parrish.  Talk about them!!

It is all about the women. Everybody is talking about how the guards could play for the men’s team. That’s a compliment. What’s the problem?

  9. I didn’t watch because I knew what would happen. The game itself changes nothing for me. Same stuff over and over. This season has been over for a while and I’ll be extremely surprised if they win 2 more games this year….don’t think we beat Nwestern at home, sadly. Not even mad anymore.  I have tickets to the Wisconsin game and I’m trying decide if it’s disrespectful towards the IU employee that got them for me to tell them I don’t want them anymore. 😬

I’ve thought all along that Woodson “deserves” one more year based on the last two years, but he’s losing me with the post-game quotes. I know he’s so much smarter than the rest of us but he really sounds about as ignorant as they come. I have zero faith he’ll do what is necessary this offseason recruiting or be willing to adjust the crappy style of basketball we play. Embarrassing.

Mighta been the same coach that game planned for the 2 Penn State games last year 🙂

If that’s the case, then Woody isn’t as smart as you claim he is. I don’t think Woody should be gone after this year, maybe next, but if he allowed the same coach to game plan the game this year after the two last year…..that’s some big time negligence on his part. I’d assume he isn’t that dumb.
