What if I told these both occured with less 50 secs to go in the game and the team in blue was down 15 pts and their best player had fouled out...

And there two other plays like this, as well..crazy to me.

What happened on the first one? I can’t tell what happened, but the official threw him out immediately so it must have been an obvious dirty play.

The families of these players know that and the other staffs are aware as well and trust me it is being used. There is a strong narrative out there that guys like Sisley and Mullins do not fit what CMW is looking for.  As a high school player in the state of Indiana having the IU staff show up for your sectional game just means a little more. When the best program in the state the past decade makes the effort and says this is why we are where we are with guys just like you that fit OUR system the kids and parents are listening. For each of these guys every game the rest of this year could be their last competitive game of the year. Having the staff there is important. We all know what AAU is, not knocking I got my coaching start there but its not the same. IU is BLOWING it with 2 in state kids that mark my words will kill us for 4 years at either PU or ND. I said it with Braden Smith and I am saying it again. this staff is losing the recruiting battle in state and  on the court to PU.

Bingo. Scratching my head at why this is debatable. But to each their own.

Just depends on the all important echo chamber....but in logic world not showing up for a game has literally zero impact unless of course this board has turned into 1988 world.

That’s some pretty certain certainties that couldn’t possibly be a certainty. Have any of those kids told you directly that they didn’t care an IU coach wasn’t there? Point is, no offense, you know no more than anybody else claiming the opposite.

Yep...and contrary to some injuries do have impacts. Just wish we would have had a full clip these last couple of seasons including Jakai. You see it every year in programs some kid comes out of nowhere just because finally having a clean bill of health.

I just hope he’s a basketball player, not just an athlete. But definitely rooting for this kid to kick his injuries and get out on the court.

  5. Kids played with effort and energy, unlike the last few games. Amazing what knocking down a few perimeter shots does for you. It doesn’t change my opinion much on the season, but it’s good to see the kids not lay down or quit like they seemed to have lately.

I sat on the first row on the baseline next to the IU bench, and I thought the officiating was the worst I’ve seen it all year. EVERY single time the ball was in the post or was driven to the hole somebody got hammered, on both sides. End of the day, I felt like we finally got a “home” whistle.

I don’t think it’s so much a refusal to play modern day basketball as it is was we missed on guys like Knecht and Timberlake, and the decision was made to go with X, Cupps and Galloway, with the hope that Gunn and Banks would make a sophomore leap, and be threats from the outside. We all know how that turned out, so we were left with the same old let’s go down low to Reneau and Ware. Now is that on Woodson - yes, but is it correctable - yes. So I say, let’s see how next season plays out.

The response to that though is that we’ve played that style three years in a row. It’s not just missing last offseason and having to adjust to this year’s roster. It’s been every year. Two first round draft picks and a veteran team last year masked the issues we see this year IMO. But even then, we got smashed in the second round. Needed a miracle run late in year one to make the tournament before getting smashed in the first round.

He's good, man. Far from a problem. Besides, if you want to get him back, just start talking trash about Cardinal baseball.😂

I can’t. Dad is a Cardinals fan. My mom is from Jersey and I used to spend a couple weeks every summer up there from the time I was born, so unfortunately I’m a Yankees fan. Looks like I have more titles than him in both sports. 😂

No different than @BruceDouglas or @Purdue7 posting on here recently IMO. To me, bad timing would’ve been right after the second game against you guys.

I can take it. But we’re 14-12 (6-10)…. With the environment and rhetoric going on, I’d say bad timing. This isn’t a Purdue board. I wouldn’t poke the bear on a Purdue message board with a similar situation going on. Do any IU fans even participate on Purdue forums?

Always fun to go back through to see who was spot on and who was way off lol.

Prob bad timing on this. Easy way to wear out your welcome with a lot of people who typically tolerate or are cordial. If an IU fan gave this prediction on your board, fine. But coming here and pointing stuff out like this?

For the he must go now crowd. Look at who we've been on for a couple years in recruiting. For the main 4-5 guys in 25 if I said we would land 4 of them because of the kids/families belief in Woodson, appeal of IU, NIL... would that make you give pause to the he must leave now?

Or do you think a new coach could come in and pick things right up and recruit Haralson, Sisley, Mullins, Brown,etc....

Disappointing year but it is a factor. So is hiring and firing every single 4 year cycle. These are factors that have to be considered. I mean the only reason a guy like May would come here is because of his history....and the same for Pearl but otherwise this job (because of the hiring and firing) has lost it's appeal. For 20 years it's been a Coaching cemetery. That cycle has to stop.

I wouldn’t consider myself in the “must go now” crowd ONLY bc I’m concerned about what that does to ‘25 recruits and Liam for next year. However, I don’t think these kids would want to play for what they’ve seen of Woodson and if they do, I’m not sure the results are better bc of the style. So because of that, I’m leaning towards it might as well happen now. If we had a played a totally different style this year due to personnel…Woodson tailoring the scheme to what he has because of recruiting misses….then maybe I’d have some confidence he could fix it. But the style has been exactly the same, except we’ve gotten worse at it.

  11. Nothing new can be said. I’d love to just see us try something different. I don’t care if we get beat by 40, but for crying out loud nothing changes. Woodson thinks the crappy shooting team he put together is just going to start shooting it well, or they’re just going to start playing better D. Press a little bit, or play a 1-2-2…. try something to get more transition buckets. We’re going to give up 80+ every game anyway. Give SOMETHING new a look for crying out loud.

The thing I don't get is that he deserves another season or it's fair for him to get one.

What is fair to Mike Woodson very well may not be fair to the players, the fans, the alumni, the boosters, or anyone else in the program. When you're a highly compensated executive, you don't get the same runway or the same level of "fair". The question really should be every single season, is XYZ coach the best person to lead us forward IMO.

In the case of Woodson, that pretty clearly is 'no'.

Very good points and I can’t disagree. You’re right, it shouldn’t be about what’s fair to him. It should be about, is he the right guy to move us forward? I’m just on the fence, given the fact he did make the last two NCAA tournaments (certainly have my own opinion, similar to many others why he did, but that’s debatable at best) does he deserve another year to prove he his? On the other side, every part of the game has deteriorated over the last three years, along with his stubbornness to adjust, I have zero faith he’s the right guy.

I think I said I wasn’t going to debate in this thread. 😂🥴

  13. I’m between 3-4. I’m thinking he MIGHT deserve another year and prob gets another year, but I’m leaning towards the fact he shouldn’t get another year. I am teetering bc I don’t know what’s best for next year.

Sorry, just giving a reason for why I voted the way I did. I won’t debate it. 😂
