At the beginning of the summer, we had 6 guards...

    XJ

    Galloway

    Leal

    Gunn

    Cupps

    Newton

Newton wasn't out until August as reported by @ledies22

And I'm sure you're correct in stating that Woody wasn't going to make promises on starting or playing time...

We have to face facts that between XJ's lack of maturity and injury, it's put us in a bind...

This is yet again, another excuse. The majority of us on here knew we didn’t do what was necessary in the offseason. A fully healthy, more mature XJ does very little to change the narrative this year. And if that one thing is what changed the entire narrative, then it proves my point. Woody put all of his eggs in the basket of a guy that was coming off an injury, and has never been able to control his emotions.

Season's not over yet, but just like last year, people are shoveling dirt on us...Let's see where we are at the end of the year how about?

Your second paragraph, I assume you're talking about shooting? At the risk of repeating myself, and this is the last time I'll do so, I think Mike Woodson is guilty of one thing...Loyalty to his kids...He counted on X and Galloway to provide leadership and outside shooting (Galloway DID shoot 46% last year from 3, and X 37%). So far, the young frontcourt has pretty much held up their end of the bargain...And hopefully Trey Galloway can continue the leadership he showed in the 2nd half of the OSU game.

You have an excuse for everything.

I’m not claiming he’s perfect but I find Malik to be very easy to root for.  I like him a lot.

Fischer can be very telling since he is around the guys.  He said Malik is a great kid.  Sometimes with Don, it’s what he doesn’t say.  He just won’t say anything.  So, if he says Malik is a great kid, you can 100% believe him.

edit. Sorry Ky, I attached this to the wrong message.

All good. Glad to hear. I certainly don’t “dislike” him by any means (I don’t dislike any of them… not even XJ), I just wish he’d put the same amount of effort on the defensive end and on the boards as he does on the offensive end, and stop turning it over. Last night he answered the call.

i feel like MR gets beat up and disrespected in this voting often, but i went with Galloway

Usually by me bc i feel like he scores, but that’s it typically…. turns it over a lot, doesn’t see the floor well, doesn’t play D, and doesn’t rebound. Last night he answered the call and I owed it to him!

fair enough. I just remember some of the Crean teams, or was it Sampson, where it was live and die by the 3 and I didnt really like having all hopes of winning a game based on "are we going to be on or off tonight"

Needs to be a healthy balance, but can’t live or die by either style.

  6. Disclaimer: I didn’t watch a second of the game.

MR appeared to have answered the call for me tonight. 14 boards speaks more to me than the points.

Galloway was apparently solid as well.

    Humongous shot by Leal.

I saw we were down 10 in the 2nd half and just assumed it was over. This makes me even angrier about the PSU game. We can’t beat Purdue, but there’s zero reason to not show up for the other 7 with tonight’s effort, and there’s a real possibility they can win any of them. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    No offense taken.

Not thrilled with the current state of the team.

Not thrilled with you or anyone who thinks that there needs to be a change

I’m sorry? It’s okay. Relax man. It’s an opinion either way. I would PREFER that Woody win every game left on the schedule, fix the reoccurring problems we’ve seen and knock it out of the park next year. I just don’t think he can or will. We ALL knew what needed to be addressed in the offseason and it wasn’t. Doesn’t mean he didn’t try, but it’s his job to get it done and he’s getting paid handsomely to do it. You seem to take things awfully personal for some reason. End of the day, this is entertainment for me, and although I’d say it’s important to me, it’s nowhere near the top of my list.

The weird thing is they technically removed margin of victory as a variable, but it's just embedded in efficiency numbers.

I think it’s somewhat important…. we can’t say that it means the same thing to beat Morehead St the way we did (luckily) as it does to beat them by 40.

    These are all your opinions.

You have no facts to back up what you are claiming.

Your posts are based on an agenda that doesn’t support the facts.

    Keep trying though.

And for the mods who agree that I am disrespectful, or a bully…

Provide some facts that we are the worst P5 run university.

Otherwise, state that your blather is nothing more than your opinion.

I’m starting to think you are a family member of Woody or somebody in the athletic department because you seem thrilled with mediocrity. No offense.

Yet when someone is called poisonous, no response.

When the coach is called sleepy, Droopy… nothing to do with basketball… no response.

Or when his age is called into question… definitely an ageism issue. No response.

I think all that some people are asking for is that the board is moderated fairly both ways

You’re complaining about people taking shots at Woodson? That’s not where the issue lies. The issue lies in how you speak to other posters and complain about certain topics bc you don’t like the tone. Regardless of your or my opinions, I shouldn’t be disrespectful to YOU, nothing to do with Woodson, and you shouldn’t be disrespectful to me. No idea who called CMW sleepy, or Droppy but that’s not directed at you. It’s easy to understand why somebody would have those takes, seeing he has ZERO energy on the bench. But that’s not the point anyway. It’s between poster and poster. If you don’t like a statement or opinion, ignore it.

This game seems like that “get right” game for OSU… Could I see us getting blown out? Yes. Could I see IU winning? Yes… I will say if IU loses both games this week in blow out fashion I think the season will spiral out of control.

    It’s unfortunately already spiraling….

Honestly Malik and Ware are our offense. Both would thrive even more so on a well put together squad. I am so thankful that they are here but at the same time I feel bad for them that they are here.

I don’t feel the least bit sorry for Malik. If he played hard on the other end and hit the boards harder, then maybe. But why would I feel for him if he only really works on one end? He was dreadful on D today. No complaints whatsoever on Ware.

I can’t imaging guards coming here if we have those four. Why would anyone believe we wouldn’t play those guys 30+ mpg.

I know many here are in love with Reneau’s apparent 2 pt offensive efficiency, but we have zero movement or flow to the offense when he’s in the game. And he plays very little D and doesn’t rebound much. We had a blueprint when he was out against Iowa, and what do we do? Go right back to the garbage we were used to.

    Don't think that's a necessary tweet.

I agree ONLY from the standpoint that CJ nor his family should be complaining about anything. He’s done nothing to deserve complaining. He’s added very little.

That’s a real possibility unless he gets some positive feedback that Reneau and MgBako are coming back, and then maybe he decides to stick with us. With those three and possibly (pie in the sky) Queen, we’re two good guards away from being really good.

I hope Queen values rebounding and playing D more so than Reneau. Otherwise he won’t move the needle much.
