  1. At first I was disappointed I didn't get Pfizer. Now it's looking good that I ended up with Moderna. In a few months, that will probably change, lol https://www.axios.com/coronavirus-vaccines-pfizer-moderna-delta-biden-e9be4bb0-3d10-4f56-8054-5410be357070.html "The study found similar results in other states. For example, in Florida, the risk of infection in July for people fully vaccinated with Moderna was about 60% lower than for people fully vaccinated with Pfizer."
  2. I thought I'd point out some Covid Hypocrisy. There are many examples. The latest one I saw was - https://news.yahoo.com/britain-relax-covid-19-travel-184225743.html 25,000 people can come to Scotland and not have to follow the same protocols as the citizens. WHY? Same thing happened at the G7 where everyone is together maskless and then they pose for the pictures wearing masks and sitting apart. The political elite should follow the same rules as everyone else. When they don't, it undermines the entire message. Leadership starts at the top and we aren't seeing that. I'm not being political here because this is going on from Australia to the UK.
  3. I think you are missing the point. No doubt the vaccine works wonders in cutting down the severity and protecting at risk populations. What I don't understand is why are vaccines needed / mandatory for those who already have the antibodies from having had Covid. Are these natural antibodies superior to the vaccines? Logic would say so, but have not seen actual evidence on it. In Europe, antibodies count. For some reason, natural immunity / antibodies are largely ignored in the US. As the author pointed out, the vaccines are not stopping the variants from being transmitted so that is no longer an argument in their favor.
  4. If true, this clearly calls for him to step down due to his involvement. https://www.organiclifestylemagazine.com/anthony-fauci-holds-patents-on-hiv-component-used-to-create-covid-19 Anyone know more about this? Will we see any more info/ an investigation?
  5. https://www.thecollegefix.com/my-university-ignores-covid-natural-immunity-and-wants-to-blame-people-like-me-for-outbreaks/ "If the vaccine cannot fight off the Delta variant, then I do not need the vaccine if it is not effective to fight the coronavirus variants. Not to mention receiving the vaccine will not lead to a “normal” life if students, faculty and staff must continue to wear a mask everywhere on campus. Furthermore, while the vaccine may be generally safe, I’ve had COVID with minimal difficulties. Taking a vaccine that provides no marginal health benefit for me would only increase my risk of an adverse reaction without a corresponding boost in protection." Author makes some good points. Have yet to hear answers that make any sense.
  6. I heard the testing was a joke. Non existent in many cases. Also the mayor was there, mask less, a day before imposing new restrictions. Funny how things got worse the day after.
  7. I was speaking to a relative over the weekend visiting from Switzerland. They have what he called the 3G rule. You are good on public transportation, public places, etc if you have been vaccinated, have proof of antibodies or have had covid. To me the last 2 sound kind of the same but my point is it seems a lot more science driven when you are allowing antibodies to count equally as vaccines. I've brought this up many times here but here it goes once more- Why are antibodies not sufficient here in the US? or NYC? That is not unreasonable. When you have rules that don't seem to based in science, and unequal application, you end up with a mess. it begs the question- why?
  8. Tragic side effects- https://www.upi.com/Health_News/2021/08/10/coronavirus-youths-depression-anxiety-rising-globally-study/1411628541635/
  9. Are you studying the effect of Ivermectin? Apparently, it has helped. https://www.researchgate.net/publication/350387746_Ivermectin_IN_Long-Covid_Patients_A_Retrospective_Study
  10. Too bad they aren't going to get better weather there. https://weather.com/storms/hurricane/news/2021-08-09-potential-tropical-cyclone-six-caribbean-forecast
  11. At this point, it seems like the UK is through the worst of the Delta case surge without a large surge in either hospitalizations or deaths. The primary reason: over 95% of its age 50+ population is already vaccinated. Even though vaccination rates are relatively low in certain areas of the United States, 90% of people aged 65+ have received at least one dose of a vaccine. One thing I haven't heard discussed much is the timing of this last wave. Since when do respiratory viruses rise in the summer with people outside soaking up vitamin D (aside from some hot southern states)?
  12. Rain, and tornadoes, totally missed me. I'll be joining you watering
  13. I'm so sick of seeing his billboards. From I80 to I65 S of Louisville, they seem to be everywhere.
  14. No doubt we will be facing a higher demand, and costs, for healthcare in the future. Even McDonalds having a hard time getting paper bags- https://nypost.com/2021/08/09/mcdonalds-grappling-with-low-supply-of-to-go-bags-straws/
  15. Get ready for the after effects. This was linked in an article from Dr Mike Rozien of the Cleveland Clinic- https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-tsunami-of-disability-is-coming-as-a-result-of-lsquo-long-covid-rsquo/# In addition to the early retirements, moms that decided (or have to) stay home with their school kids, people that have become addicted to drugs and or died from overdoses, you can add long covid as a factor keeping people out of the workforce and contributing to the scarcity of labor.
  16. Just finished Protocol Zero. A thriller set in Alaska. Main character is a Marine - Joe Rush. Was an entertaining read.
  17. Not liking this... https://sports.yahoo.com/pac-20-conference-expanded-pac-202012545.html The B1G not showing any vision and leadership here. I fear will get left behind. If you have the PAC20 and a super SEC, it won't be long until OSU does leave for greener pastures. What is Warren doing?
  18. I'll be in Gatlinburg this fall. Never been before. What are the brewpubs that should be on my cant miss list?
  19. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33742540/ This is not an invitation to hear about your personal experiences with this @5fouls and @bluegrassIU 😁
  20. Are there any studies showing whether people that have had COVID and therefore have natural immunity are getting reinfected with these breakthrough cases? At the same rate as the vaccinated? It seems to reason that natural immunity may be stronger than the vaccines. Also, when will antibody tests suffice in lieu of vaccinations? The fact that this continues to be ignored raises troubling questions
  21. Hopefully we will see more studies on this- https://www.jpost.com/health-science/israeli-scientist-says-covid-19-could-be-treated-for-under-1day-675612
  22. I'd actually rather get ASU. I know they are not AAU and AZ is but I see ASU eventually passing up AZ.
  23. Merging the Big 12 and Pac 10 would not be good for the B1G. Getting KS starts to blow this up a bit. Seems like the Pac 10 may not be as receptive to a merger with the B1G which realistically leaves only 1 option- take their best teams and let the leftovers merge with the Big 12.
  24. This has been discussed before but now seems to be resurfacing with new mask mandates. We just saw the mayor of Chicago out with 400,000 people at LaLaPalooza without a mask- the day before she imposed new mask rules. Common sense says she would be wearing one if they worked. Only a N95 mask or greater can stop virus particles- and that is when worn correctly. In general, masks are unsanitary and do little to stop COVID. Fauci has said masks are ineffective. Now come this- "A top COVID adviser for Joe Biden has admitted face masks were not very effective against COVID-19 and said they only served a political purpose. In an interview on Monday, Michael Osterholm said if particles of smoke could get through a mask, so could the virus. “Many of the face cloth coverings that people wear are not very effective in reducing any of the virus movement in or out,” he explained. “Either you’re breathing out or you’re breathing in.”" Is there any scientifically proven reason for keeping up the mask charade?
