First week of October my wife is doing her third stint on the Appalachian Trail. She will spend about 10 days up in the Smokey Mountains.  I am her chauffeur so after dropping her off at Fontana Dam, North Carolina I will head to Knoxville and spend a week with my son and my grandkids.

The Appalachian trail is something I've been interested in doing at some point. Thru hiking would be my top choice but section hiking seems more realistic.

So does your wife camp on the trail whole stint or make trips into towns?

My wife and I talk about how fortunate we were to have traveled to NYC last October, New Orleans in November and Phoenix in late February.  Good luck in your travels!  Stay safe.

Seems to be a pattern.  Are you a super spreader?😁 Just kidding.

  3. Guess I'm getting a sprinkler today since I get less rain the the Mojave desert.

Put in a watermelon plant early June and is doing pretty well  have 5 blossoms already.  Also, have a surprise squash plant.  At the end of every season I toss all my pots and any pumpkins from halloween and food scraps in the garden.  So, I dont know what it is but it started growing in April so its should produce soon.

Early on, a lot of cases were definitely missed, but a month ago there were about 450,000 tests per day with about a 4.5% positive rate.  Now we're at a little over 600,000 tests per day with a positive rate over 8%.  I would say for the last month or so, things haven't changed too much as far as test availability.

Early on numbers could have been massive as a lot of people were definitely missed.  I hope to see more articles like the one you posted about populations with antibodies from early cases that weren't tested.  The main issue I'm looking to have an answer to moving forward is what antibodies mean for this virus.  How long do they last, does the virus mutate fast enough that antibodies soon won't matter for people who were early cases?  If either of those turn out to be true, a vaccine could be a real struggle.  Fingers crossed antibodies will protect for quite a while.

We cant forget about Tcells either.  The research is still ongoing but even though antibodies are being produced Tcells are also part of the immune response.  And may act independently from antibodies.

For me these graphs bring up the question of how many people are getting tested but have no symptoms?  People that are getting tested out of curiosity or worry.  I know when I got tested they asked for all the symptoms I had.  I cant imagine there are that many people out there that are sick with non covid right now.

When I think of Cherries, I think of Traverse City, MI but Michigan is not the State. However great segue to the next clue. Both the State of MI and the State of Wisconsin have a town/city with the same name, spelled exactly the same but pronounced completely  different. The Wisconsin City is the winner!

    Well I learned something today.

What city is the International Cherry Pit-Spitting contest held in? In case you're interested the championship record is 93' 6.5". The same record holder the same year spit 110' 4" in the freestyle competition, a Guinness Record!

Hint, the state has a BIG school in it.

Cant remember the city but I know it's in Michigan.

And just after I posted this, one of my regional managers just sent me this.....

"Wow! None of the refrigerators I ordered last week came in"

    Ugh

I bought a new range from home depot recently.  Took 2 weeks to get it delivered.  Asked the sales rep about refrigerators while I was there.  Said if I ordered that day expect to wait until September for delivery.  Hope mine holds on a few more months.  Its where my food lives.

Liell said she and Booker are calling on Holcomb to consider taking guns away from DNR officers and “significantly” limiting their jurisdiction.

Um, what?  Most counties in Indiana only have 2 conservation officers per county often working alone and they have to deal with armed people regularly during hunting seasons.

What has been underreported is if this event took place on private property.  I have rather strong feelings about trespassers as one burned down the house (unoccupied at the time) on our family farm.   I'm curious as to how some of you feel about trespassing, or whether it even matters in this incident.

The property issue needs to be cleared up. Have dealt with trespassing plenty of times. Sometimes a simple misunderstanding, a few times other hunters blatantly poaching on our land. Many a broken/stolen deer stands and no trespassing signs, ratchet straps.  Had one stand chained and locked to the tree with a door with padlock over the steps and still stolen. Finally caught the guy and dealt with it. Trespassers are like cockroaches.

That said, unless these people were seriously provoked they overreacted bigtime. I dont respect people that cant handle themselves.

  11. I'm not drawing any conclusions but one thing I noticed in one of the videos, Booker appeared to be calmly waking away beside the woman from the other group with his back to the morons.  I would think after having supposedly been assaulted you wouldn't give up your back and be blind to your assailants.

If his story turns out to be true, if it was me, I would get better tougher friends.

I got lifetime permits seems like 5-6 years ago.  When my daughter turned 18, one of her gifts was a lifetime carry permit.  As I understand, the 4 (5?) year permits are now free but I would always recommend spending the money and getting the lifetime permit unless you're past 70.

As much as I would like national reciprocity it's a long shot. But my long term goal is to move to somewhere in Montana. With a lifetime permit I can carry in about 38 states.

There is a reason people from anti freedom states get Utah permits.

My most treasured M1 Garand is an International Harvester made in Evansville, Indiana.  IH wasn't very good at making Garands and had to eventually get help from Springfield to mostly finish their contract, so IH Garands are considerably more scarce than other receivers.

In a carbine, the one I don't have that I want is a Rockola.  I just think it would be cool to have a gun made by a jukebox company.

I made a vacation out of it.  I had the option of going to the CMP store in Camp Perry Ohio(Ohio sucks) or Anniston, Alabama.  So I chose the south. It was my wife and I's first vacation after being married. She didnt understand why I would drive 12 hrs to but a rifle. We stopped, stayed in Nashville the first night, her first time there.  Saw the Shiloh/Pittsburgh landing battlefield.  Spent a couple hours in the CMP store, and spent 3 days in Nashville on the way home. When she saw the cmp store she was hooked. Just like when she saw the first Indiana fireworks store. There is a world beyond pop its and sparklers.

Our handgun permits or cu expired and she is the one pushing me to get lifetime permits.  We will tomorrow.  My wife is from Illinois.  I Taught her well.

My Garand has a '53 Springfield reciever with a Harrington and Richardson operating rod. The wood is original production, so not modern aftermarket.  Mine was a Greek return.
