I like that Woodson is a gentleman.  He knows the game.  But this isn't Atlanta where you could normalize a 20 and 62 record.  Urgency.

Do you really think he is approaching this opportunity that way?  I'm not calling you out, I am just really curious if that is how you perceive his approach.  Personally I think CMW is the closest thing we've had to Knight since Knight himself.  He may not be the mastermind (evil genius, mad scientist) that Knight was, but he seems to approach it team first and with more decorum.  No coach we had since Knight would've suspended five players prior to a winnable game...for any reason.  I said before, CMW is building something, and truth be told, foundations are sometimes ugly and always nothing spectacular to look at, but all of the best buildings have them.  After the NW game, I came to the realization that this season is more about the future of IU basketball than it is this season.

  2. Watching all of those replays last night, and focusing on Brad Davison reminded me of a Nolan Ryan quote.  Ryan was doing a season journal for a paper in Texas during his last season.  After or as he whopped on Robin Ventura, Jack McDowell said some unflattering things.  So in his next journal Ryan said "Down here in Texas, real men get into the fight, they don't stand on the outside and yell."

They've been available.  Our administration just refuses to hire them.

Riiiight.  Because everyone has been knocking down the door to coach IU.  Hell, I heard John Wooden was trying to dig himself up to take a stab at it, but the IU administration told him not to bother.  By the way, weren't you pining and lobbying for Chris Mack?  How has that worked out?

I’m afraid next year will be worse if we lose what we all anticipate.

I have no idea who is going to stay or go, and while I love TJD, it should be noted that some of our best offensive flow this year came at times when he was benched for extended periods.

I like Woodson too but if we don’t make the dance this season it’s going to be nearly impossible for him to ever recover.  It’s just the way it is with this fan base when you hire a coach with no track record at the college level whatsoever .  He’s just never going to get the benefit of the doubt when things go south.  The apathy is here and the part where the fans start rooting for loses to pile up is almost here.  Sad.

Is this a stock post for you?  You just change the name from Crean, to Miller, to Woodson, to.....and just re-post.

  6. A lot of people have trashed Rob because of his offensive struggles, but when he was playing, it was rare for the opposing teams best player to torch us.  Think about it, Murry, Ivey, even Davis in the first game wasn't as effective as he was tonight.  We miss Rob's defense terribly.

  7. 20 years ago, Tom Izzo was my favorite B1G coach.  I secretly wished for him to take over the IU program.  20 years later, I despise the man.  the rape allegations, his behavior on the court and in postgame press conferences, the way his players were acting today, it's all an embarrassing s#!tshow.  I really do not understand how a man behaves as he has, and can still look at himself in the mirror.  He's constantly whining, and crying, someone said it earlier, but his team is emulating his poor sportsmanship, and it is really sad for me, someone who once held him in high regard.

I heard 5 broke curfew, 3 broke another team rule.  Your post indicates 2 were engaged (curfew breakers only?) and 3 were not (other violation). Your post indicates 2 of the 3 were sulking and it is known that those 2 have previously been in doghouse.  The other who was not engaged in the shootaround is a freshman talking to (being mentored by?) a team captain.

Those puzzle pieces seem to go together.

Will be interesting to see if some of the suspensions are lifted for MSU while others are not.

Nobody told me there was going to be math.......
