There's the knockdown shooter we need. He looks more athletic, and drives to the basket better than I was expecting.  It would be nice to have someone that can make opponents pay for going under screens. That would also open up the lane for Malik. Hope we get him to come home.

From the film he looks really good, and doesn’t need to be wide open to knock down his shot. In the past, most of our supposed 3 pt shooters have been reluctant to shoot even when wide open. We need a fearless shooter that will make you pay when he has the opportunity! Hickman seems to fit that mold.

  2. I go back to the beginning of the Knight era, and was fortunate enough to be around to watch those teams, so my benchmark is the 1976 undefeated team. Obviously, that’s a high bar, and isn’t a realistic goal to set, but the overall excellence surrounding the program is what Id like to see again. Winning the B10 championship, being a consistent Top 25 team and a threat to win a national title should be our goal.

In other words - a true “blue blood” program again! And with our resources that shouldn’t be that hard.

Based on the rankings, mock drafts, etc, seems like the consensus is McNeeley might be better, but I don’t think it’s that significant of a difference between the two. Feel like it just hurts losing his outside shooting which we’ll need to address in the portal now.

Let’s hope so, but either way I’m ok with swapping McNeeley for Tucker.

    For sure

Agreed. We don't get Tucker most likely with McNeely and I actually think Tucker has more upside as an "all around" player. But either way, it is lame to see him go to Michigan.

From what I’ve seen it looks like Tucker is more athletic, with a mid-range game, and McNeeley is more of threat from 3. Pretty much an even swap.

even before the money involvement, there was greed in transferring in the form of more playing time.

Yeah, but before the rules changed players made a sacrifice too, because they had to sit a year before they could play at a new school unless they got a waiver.

Yep. So make them employees and they can have money based on how well they perform, they shouldn't just be handed anything.

If you transfer, you're paying some of it back.

If you don't perform, you're paying some of it back/having your "scholly" pulled.

Can't handle public criticism, you're out too.

Real-world, much more cutthroat, I'm all about it, but I am not necessarily sure that's truly what the players want.

In other words - performance driven like most jobs, but I doubt that’s what they want either.

Yes they are. You're just blind from your Fandom, which is understandable.

Purdue is THE program in the entire Big Ten now. Indiana is a has been that needs two NBA players just to make the tourney now and then.

    Dream on!

Think back to about a month ago when all the message boards were being set on fire with people declaring all the players would be leaving the program. I think that storm has been weathered pretty well.

I have to admit I was concerned we might have a mass exodus, but obviously, CMW didn’t lose the respect/trust of the players like so many thought. It’s been a good off season so far! 😀
