I didn’t say they aren’t talented, just wasted at the college level. If they’re good enough, they’ll get to the NBA regardless of where they play. They don’t have to play for Kentucky to get there.

SAME OFFENSE.  Doesn't work in the NBA, isn't going to work in the NCAA.  Stand round offensive sharp shooters might help some but its not a modern offense.  It just doesn't lend itself to big time winning.  Can we win some games sure.  But we're going to get ran out of gyms by good team with modern offensive schemes.  We have seen it for 3 years.

What’s stopping us from running a modern offense, if we have the right personnel? You’re assuming CMW won’t adapt, if our roster has the necessary pieces.

I dont' know if i agree with they if we had shooters.  I feel like he gets singularly focused at times and he is going to shoot no matter what.  He has to have better vision.  If he is doubled, he has to kick it out. It doesn't matter if you don't trust them.  You can't keep driving into a dbl/triple every time.  Its basically the recipe everyone used to put 15+ whoop asses on us.  Better ball movement leads to better open shots, spreads the floor and gets him 1:1 where he will feast.

You can’t double team him, if we have legit scoring treats from the outside.

This would lead to the exact same system we had this year.  Maybe it works.  Maybe we have the same results.  More guards and wings, less bigs.

Not if we land a couple of elite shooting guards. Omoruyi’s job would be rim protecting and rebounding. Any scoring would be a bonus.

Does he play through too many double teams, probably. However, he shot 56%, so he finished a lot of those. He was second on the team in total assists, and was basically tied with a 6th year PG for assists/game. He was smart for mostly passing to Ware, who is an excellent finisher. Who else do you pass too? Mgbako, Cupps and Gunn, on the season shot under 40% overall. Ware and Reneau shot a higher % from three than Mgbako and Gallo. Ware and Reneau both attempted more threes than Cupps, who was afraid to shoot.

His big thing is staying out of foul trouble and getting better rebounding position.

Even though Ware had a slightly higher average, Malik was probably our best option when we really needed a bucket, so why throw it out to a guard who was likely going to miss. If we get a couple of elite guards who are knock down shooters, then I think he’ll be a willing passer when he’s double teamed. And if they’re really good, he won’t be doubled team as often.

Sorry but that is crazy, Leal was one of our best defenders.  He kept his man and ball in front of him way more than any bench player would have on the roster this year.  Kid has a high BB IQ which is what we need on this team.

Agree with all that, but he needs to focus on shooting, and become a legitimate 3pt threat. That’s what we need….forget about taking the ball to the hoop.

Nope, he’s going to go through the NBA draft process and then make a decision. Woodson will probably wait around without a backup plan and then MM will decide to stay in the draft.

He should go through the process, but I expect him to be back in college basketball next year, just not at IU. I hope I’m wrong, because that means we have a mass exodus, and a complete rebuild on our hands.
