The Richardson deal....ugh.  Yeah, there's no defending that one.  It does make me feel better that both Cleveland and Philly wasted that pick though.

Although it does suck to realize that 2 out of the next 10 picks that came off the board after what would have been the Colts' were......All Pro guard Joel Bitonio and All Pro DE DeMarcus Lawrence.  Gee....think either of those guys would have come in handy?

Andre Johnson I don't completely blame him for...IF he were setting AJ up to be a 2nd/3rd WR around a couple of younger guys. The only problem was that the two younger guys were Donte Moncrief and Phillip Dorsett.

Landry...yeah, that was a bust.

And the litany of guys past their prime or never-weres: Ahmad Bradshaw, Hakeem Nicks, Johnson, Jones, Heyward-Bey....

Grigson basically went on a colts fan forum and took a flyer on ever single guy that someone said…”We should sign so and so” thread. No real vision for building a team.

Sure Ballard has missed…as does most GMs…but he has a solid plan and he has a vision for what he wants. Focus on trenches and focus on elite athlete measurables. He has his qb so it certainly is time to lay the cards on the table now…and his seat will get mighty hot if he can’t turn this team into a playoff team. But what he has built with basically a bunch of plug n play qbs so far….they’ve at least been competitive.

That plan hasn't produced for 7 years, how long are we supposed to wait

Matt Painter took 19 years to get to final four…but look how great he is doing. So what….maybe 10 more years and if we aren’t showing promise than sure…we can move on. 😀

Like I said earlier he would have been fired already in most organizations. I find it funny that some of you who support Ballard are the ones who wants Woodson gone. Woodson has a winning season ever year and made the tournament 2 out of 3 years and has 4 BTT wins and two tournament wins. Ballard has a losing record and made the playoffs 2 out of 7 years with 1 playoff win.

Walter's son said it was UTI....will be headed home tonight thankfully.

I’m guessing that I didn’t read closely enough.  Sorry.  I saw ALS mentioned and him being hospitalized.  I remember seeing that he had UTI previously.  Anyway, I hope he’s doing better.  Apologies for misinformation.

We were ROCKING AND ROLLING when Luck quit.

Look at what he'd done in those two drafts. Not being able to admit that is incredibly difficult to build, in the years after that, makes any conversation incredibly hard.

No GM just takes that punch and keeps on trucking.

these are my thoughts, quite honestly.

We waxed the Texans when QB1 was healthy, then absolutely gave them the game in Indy with our backup, in multiple ways.

What else can I apply this to?

Luck has been retired for 5 years so it is time to stop using that as an excuse

The thing is the Texans are a better team today than they were in that last game. The Colts aren't any better today than in that lady game.

I think it is putting to much pressure on Richardson to expect him to come in and be the saviour of this team. You need to build around him and give him as much help as possible. He needs playmakers on offense and give him a good defense so the offense doesn't have to always win the game

THAT IS CRAZZZZZZZY.(the bold) Blackmon and Richardson back alone are HUGE improvements to the team.

They have a good defense, that is VET led, plus Pittman, Taylor, Downs, and a plethora of TEs and a Top 5 OL in the league.

The defense was ranked 25th last year. None of the TE's on their roster are difference makers. Pittman is pretty much a possession receiver and doesn't go down field and only had like two touchdowns last year.

It's not an excuse. It's reality, Scott.

So how long does he get to get on from Luck 10 more years LOL!. I hope you are correct on this team and Ballard but you are in the minority you still backs Ballard

I have a question for you. Why are you so willing to keep giving Ballard passes after 7 years but you want Woodson gone after 3

Woodson has had more success than Ballard's teams had.

Their QB1 was playing in his 1st or 2nd pro game and look how he turned out. He torched our secondary all day long in the second meeting without one of their biggest weapons and now he has a decent running back and 2 play making receivers has a very good tight end. Our offense is not on par with Houston. I think the we have the better coach but when you have a QB on a rookie contract why not go out and get a big time play maker. I feel the Colts are not providing AR with the tools needed and Houston is with CJ. Not saying either is right but I dont think AR is getting enough weapons. The draft might help that. Last thing I am not positive but i remember hearing that the Texans were down 7 starters in the 1st meeting.

Also just checked. Here are the stats for the QBS in that first meeting

AR was 6/10 for 56 yards and 0 TD

Gardner was 19/23 171 with 1 TD

That win was with our back up as well so the they beat our backup is not applicable for the 2nd game. Texans are going all in this year and the Colts continue to stand pat.

We scored more points than Houston last season with Garner Minshew.  We started a QB in week 2 that was in his first 2 starts, as well.. and really that is a weak excuse "it was CJ's first couple of games" The very next week they blast Jax @Jax. Either he's a god or not a god.

Might check the rushing stats in the first game :)

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gardner in Week 18-- 13-24 141 yards and OTDs... horrible. 1 rush 9 yards ... they played a backup QB in week 18. One that wasn't even playing well.

by what ranking? Did it look like the 25th best defense at any point?

"none of their TEs are difference makers" ehhh, as a whole I love the TE room. Mallory, Woods🙏, Ogletree, and Granson. I don't see what Bowers brings that we don't already have.

Pittman is pretty much a possession WR-- ok? ... he had 4 TDs.. are you somehow trying to convince yourself that Pittman isn't a weapon?

I'm not. lol

because it's just not that hard to see one is good at their job and one isn't? Ballard doesn't coach the team, catch the ball, not throw picks in OT, gameplan, have teams ready, etc etc etc.

This is so far-fetched of a conversation, I can't grasp it.

I under stand AR had 2 TDS not taking away from that just the argument that they beat a back up . On the flip side the Colts won without JT and lost with JT so does that mean the Colts are better without him?? Of course not so stats can be used to support whatever you want them to. What we cant spin is CJ threw for over 300 yards in each game against the Colts , he killed our secondary and the Texans added more offensive weapons for him. I think AR is going to be great but the Colts are not IMO supporting him like the Texans are CJ and we will have to wait and see what the next 10 years bring. The Texans are using the same strategy the Colts did after drafting Manning.

CJ did not throw for over 300 yards in the 2nd game. CJ got gobs of yards late, after the game was over, in the 1st one.  The Texans beat a 2nd string QB in the 2nd game.

Stroud threw for 225 yards AFTER the game was 31-10 in week 2 with 5:30 secs left in the 3rd quarter. Garbage stats

We can't do anything about Hunter, who we offered more money to, wanting to sign with the Texans. As a Colts fan, it's hard to see the frustrations.

I heard that stat from Rick Venturi on the radio. Just had a chance and Sports Reference

28th in PPG

24th YPG

Did they look--- with Buckner, Stewart, Franklin, Kenny-- and the rest of the DL-- like the 25th-ranked defense?

I thought they were really bad against New Orleans, CLE, and ATL. Outside of that... maybe blowing the lead in week 1 we could be upset about? That certainly wasn't all on the defense.

Oh and against LAR they weren't tremendous. Idk that they were bad, though.

Yes they were horrible last year. I was at the NO game and it was the worst defensive performance I have seen. Venturi was a DC for years in the NFL and he just can't stand the defensive philosophy of Bradley. He thinks it is to conservative and vanilla and they don't make it hard for WR's to get off the line

That's great and all...

Rick went 3-48 as a HC in D1 and NFL. This was also mentioned about RV.... "Additionally, all but one of the black players on the football team had protested against the unequal treatment of African-American student athletes within the program.

RV was part of the Colts staff from 1984-90 (before the season he was the interim)--- the Colts were 38-57 in those seasons... then 1-15 in 1991 when he was interim HC and DC. Sooo 39-72 during his tenure with the Colts.

1995- CLE DC- Cleveland went 5-11

The Saints from 96-05- Saints record during that time-- 53-97

Rams in 06-08- Rams record-- 13-35
