Next Season Expectations

Recommended Posts

Now that Goode is on board, I’d say we have a pretty good idea of our roster.

Our floor should be high. Our ceiling should be high.

I will be disappointed if we are even flirting with the tournament next year; we should be solidly in. With the amount of talent we have on paper, I think we should be a top 25 team all year. Those expectations should not be considered out of line unless we have something like 3 major injuries. Agree?

After last year's fiasco, when I see it on the floor, THEN I'll believe it.

If Woodson doesn't put it together this year, he will be seen as another Lou Henson. Doing so little with so much.

You are talking about Calipari, the greatest failure in college ball. Although I got a laugh thinking of Coach Mike Woodson with a Lou-do. 🤔

No idea what next season looks like yet, but they are trending in the right direction.

CMW was feeling the heat as the season ended. It may appear the success in the portal has cooled things off for him. In reality, you spend this much money and add this many top portal players, it may actually turn up the heat.

Side Note: I'm calling out everyone involved in getting these guys in shape and healthy. If they start the season with a bunch of key injuries, something needs to change.

No matter how hard you are trying to hide your real feelz in this post... you are not hiding anything. It glows like the sun.

I’ll bet Goode never lifted weights at IL and that’s he shoots well, so he’ll come here and lift weights and lose his touch…

sorry couldn’t resist…

The kid is a stud, he don't need no stinkin' weight room - just let the boy shoot. 🙂 But seriously, Woodson has done, in my opinion, a tremendous job during the offseason. We'll see what happens next year, but I am truly excited.

It was an inside joke…a topic that has reared its head far too many times.

Way too early BIG outlook!

Some good info about the comings and going’s around the conference!

Spoiler they have IU #1 and Purdue #2.

While IU has a lot to prove next year, I’m not sure I buy Purdue having one of the best backcourts in the country? Time will tell for both teams!

That link made we click on another link--- https://bustingbrackets.com/posts/big-ten-basketball-way-too-early-power-rankings-for-2024-25-season-01hwf5wjcykw

I think that'll make it more direct

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I don't buy Purdue's backcourt, at all.

I had to laugh when I saw this under Washington...

"Big man Wilheim Breidenbach (5.3 ppg and 3.4 rpg) is the lone rotation piece back."

If that's the case, the Huskies have a big problem :)

Literally!😂

Yeah I think that’s a stretch to say one of the best in the country. If it was just point guard sure but I think Loyer needs to take a big step for us to be in the conversation of best backcourt in the country. I do think Smith is one of the best PG’s in the country though.

The state of Indiana basketball is strong. Kentucky sucks. I can sleep at night.

I like see WI #12- behind MN, lol.

MSU in the bottom half, behind NE, is also  nice to see.

FWIW, here are the current projections at BartTorvik:

  • 6 - UCLA
  • 9 - Purdue
  • 15 - Michigan St
  • 16 - Indiana
  • 20 - Nebraska
  • 21 - Michigan
  • 25 - Rutgers
  • 27 - Northwestern
  • 29 - USC
  • 32 - Wisconsin
  • 34 - Ohio St
  • 39 - Maryland
  • 41 - Oregon
  • 54 - Iowa
  • 65 - Illinois
  • 66 - Minnesota
  • 78 - Washington
  • 85 - Penn St

And filling all that out just confirms the Big Ten has entirely too many teams.

Teams will continue filling out their rosters over the weeks to come, so with a mostly set roster it's possible we could get jumped. Michigan adding Goldin today gave them a big boost. Also, I suppose the portal is still open for another day or so, and you might still see guys leave; Illinois lost another just today.

Did UCLA add some impact guys from the portal? They were terrible last year, surprised to see them so high.
