Pet Peeves

I don't think most people care to realize you lift for you and your only competition is yourself.

If you spend more than 45 minutes on weights you're probably doing it wrong.

I think strong natural women are great, powerlifting women are gross and should dress appropriately.

To clarify.  Those that I take issue with aren't even true powerlifting women.  I can respect those that are.  These are girls struggling with their self worth doing a Kim Kardashian butt lift workout.   They only work glutes.   Like every single exercise.  And hey, I get it, ugly girls need love too, same as ugly guys.  It's just overly thirsty to dress so inappropriately that it's just disgusting. Like work on the 2 spare tires that you are showing everyone publicly before you try and lift that butt girl.  Somebody tell them.  Not this middle aged bald married white guy with 2 little boys.  Nobody is trying to see this at the gym.  And neither is Harold the Instagram stalker when he can just go to pornhub and look at professionals.

I really don't know where most people get their information anymore. I've found my methods and settled on a course. But if someone wants results they need a strong mental game. Leave vanity and ego at the door. Train and eat for performance and the rest will follow. I think that's true for any program.  The KISS ideology rarely fails.

I've also started incorporating a lot more body weight work. Great for conditioning but I've seen too many "strong" guys who suck at push-ups.  Me included. My goal is to maintain the ACFT standard for my age group. Except running. I hate running and jump rope instead.

While we're on the subject of gym pet peeves, here's another: people who talk on their phones and constantly repeat themselves.

I also get easily annoyed by people who talk too much and have a voice that carries throughout the gym so you hear everything they're saying no matter where they are.

The gym I go to is pretty good on the weekends, because then it's usually just people who want to get their lift done and get out. During the week, there are always people working with trainers, and some of them apparently like being noticed.

When OPENING a word document, to only be reminded but a button that under that button you will find another button that says that this Document is read only, so push both of those to be prompted to push another button if you wish to be able to edit said document.

Then this STUPID azz auto save crap! you work through making a draft for it to save edits which totally deletes any of the original text that I end up wanting to go back to in some form....

Ease up! I too have issues with the UX programmers thinking I’m an idiot! But then you have to realize most of the users they’re programming for are!!!

I work out exclusively from 1 - 3p in the afternoon.  I make my own schedule, so I can do it then, and the ability to have it be less packed and also give me an afternoon energy kickstart has been incredible.

I've always been a morning guy for workouts...I want to get in there, get out, clean up, and carry on with my day...when I was working at 6 AM, I was in the gym at 4 AM...

I cannot function without a morning shower, so it's the best use of my time...

When I was doing air traffic, it definitely helped with the stress part of it, and I always slept like a baby...

Makes sense. Working out leads to a buildup of adenosine, the neurotransmitter that makes you sleepy.  It's probably what made you more relaxed. It also builds up during the day which helps with sleep.

Last year, the marina I use delivered my boat and the first time I took it out it started filling up with water. Bad enough that the bilge pump burnt itself out. They replaced it for free but would not admit that they failed to replace the plug before delivery.

This year they delivered the boat and it sat for a few weeks due to my wife’s back surgery. Uncovered it Saturday and tried starting it up but the battery was dead. By that time the marina was closed for the weekend so had to go into Advanced Auto. They hooked it up and it read zero. Bought a new battery from them for $2 bills and change. Started the boat up and the trim/tilt switch wouldn’t work. For you non- boaters- I couldn’t raise or lower my prop. Couldn’t leave our small, no wake lake all weekend.

Called the marina on Tuesday and asked them how this stuff could go wrong when the boat was just sitting on the lift, and whether they checked it out prior to delivery. No good answers and lost a great weather holiday weekend on the lake. Unfortunately, this marina is buying up their competitors so my options are limited.

I know, I know…first world problems. Still, it grinds me that customer service is so bad

You should be "thankful" you actually got to talk with a person, and one that spoke English !! I always get the Taiwaneeze gal that lives in India, and you can't understand a word of what they say. They can never make a decision anyway, and the deadline for complaints ended yesterday, so....

I have that same problem with a lot of places. Fortunately not with the local marina.

Meijer in New Albany has self-checkout lanes on both sides of the store.  I tend to do most of my shopping there on the non-grocery side of the store.

They've always closed the self-checkout on that side later in the evening, like after 9:00.  Used to that, expect that, no big deal.

Recently, when I've stopped in there after work, it's been hit and miss if the lanes are open.  That irritates me quite a bit.  The doors on that side of the store are open.  You've got a greater there, but I have to walk all the way to the other side to check out and then I have to walk all the way back to where my car is parked.

Today takes the cake.  2 o'clock on a Saturday afternoon.  The store is packed, and those lanes are closed.  How hard is it to staff a pod of self-checkout lanes?  I need someone there more than I need the greeter.

First world problems for sure, but imagine what third world problems are. Never an excuse for poor customer service and that seems to be the case more and more.

If I had to guess, the greeter probably isn't trained or skilled enough to manage the checkout lanes. I had that happen once, where I couldn't get an item to scan, so I asked the greeter if she could help, but she didn't have a clue how to fix the issue.

Unfortunately, I've worked in a place where we had less talented/skilled people in more visible places due to staff availability or other issues at the time, so I've seen this before.

Reading restaurant reviews and realizing they are skewed by posters with food allergies, special needs, etc. If you have a food allergy state your displeasure but give the restaurant a fair rating based on what the rest of us can relate to! Please, if you are a vegan don’t even rate a burger grill!!!!

I know construction is important, but holy sh*t, Indy and the surrounding area are a mess right now.

We drove from Indiana to Baton Rouge yesterday for a memorial service in my wife’s family. Every state we drove through had construction going on at some point. Memphis was the worst.

To keep with the topic of this thread, I will include idiot drivers. I know people like to say this city or that city has the worst drivers, and I’d like to add Memphis, TN and Jackson, MS to those discussions.
