Good ol' Laurel, MS. My wife can't get enough of it on HGTV

We went on a 4-5 day trip once in the Biloxi area... loved it. Also spent a weekend in Starkville (poop hole but we loved it) this past spring to watch some baseball.

The coast is a pretty cool spot, imo. There is more of a creole/french connection ----as in they are LSU fans in that area, a lot more than Ole Miss/Miss St... or it seemed. Some GORGEOUS old plantation looking homes on that coast, as well.

Plus casinos are fun, right?

too bad it's one of the poorest states in the country, with one of the worst education systems as well

To those who don't like all of the bowls....don't watch.  I love bowl season so I watch.  If people believe all of these bowls aren't worth it, I would argue there is more worth than just financial.  You get exposure in recruiting. Some of that may be because you're on TV, or some may be by playing a bowl game in Nashville and the exposure to local kids.  Teams also get those extra weeks of practice which can be invaluable to younger players especially.  Even if it is a lower tier bowl (maybe comparable to the NIT in hoops), coaches still have the opportunity to teach their players how to prepare for a big game.  Maybe the stage is bigger next season and now you've been through those experiences as a program.  Then there is the opportunity to connect with alumni outside of your state.  Those extras that they do at bowl games are partially for the fans and an IU alum living in Biloxi might not have a chance to get to Bloomington, but now they have a chance to connect and maybe donate.  Plus, as a player, I want to play.  My time as an athlete is finite.  Let's go play if the opportunity presents itself.  There's all kinds of possible reasons to go to these bowls even if they are "lesser" bowls.

And it's entertainment.  Starting tomorrow night, almost everyday for the next 3 weeks straight.  Who cares if there are only 100 fans in the stands at some of these games.

All the list I have seen is that Mississippi is the worst state to live in the US.

So I decided to enter a confidence pool today for bowls. All picks due in morning for all games. With players opting out, not playing it's pretty tough to choose.

Anyone see some games that should be on upset alert? I just looked at spreads and it seems there's about 15 games around the 3 point spread.

I love bowl season. PS....I haven't read the whole thread on Mississippi but the Gulf Coast/Shores....absolutely beautiful!

I don’t have anything too technical but I feel good about Miss State and not so good about PU and OSU. They both seem to have a lot opting out. I haven’t seen much else but those stand out.

Miss St is a tough one. Do they come out and play game of their lives for Coach Leach or do they miss his in game coaching? I know some key Illini players are opting out. Word on the street for them is Chase Brown might be coming back another year....even my Illini friends are curious why since his draft status can't go much higher.

Our favorite 3 letters is the reason why. NIL. Could make more next year at Illinois vs being a 3rd or 4th round draft pick.

Dogs by a lot. You know what stadium they're playing in right?
