It’s not technically a charge though. You may not like it or think it should be, but it’s not.

The post is a wrestling match because there’s not enough quality bigs, so they let the average college big who isn’t very good get away with a lot. The pro quality guys are the ones who are getting shafted, not the other way around.

A charge is when an offensive player has made significant contact with a defender that has an established position.  Look at what Edey does in that clip.  The Penn State player is established at the foul line.  Edey runs to him, makes contact, spins his back into him, and then slams into him 2 more times.  Edey moves the guy at least 5 feet down the lane.  The player he is running into is 6'8" 244 lbs Michael Henn.  You don't move a guy that big without significant contact.  It should be a charge.  Just like the guy called for the charge against Shaq around the 2:20 mark in the video I posted who used his body to clear space.

They don't call it, but it is a foul.  I also think that is part of the reason why it is hacking season in the post for the defense too.  After the offensive player has bullied their way to the basket it is kind of hard to call a foul on a guy for bumping their arm.

Seems like a normal, no call if you’re Izzo or Fran.

I know this is a joke, but there's enough truth behind it that it really illustrates how out of control refs let certain coaches who have reputations as hot-heads get vs other coaches.

It's a big problem, at least in the Big Ten. I mean Holtman gets tossed for this, but Izzo is screaming in the refs' faces all game long, and Fran does the same and comes nearly over to IU's bench and nary a whistle in sight.

So I looked at the college rule book and I do think you’re right about it being a foul, it just wouldn’t be a charge per se. The key obviously being the defender has to be in legal guarding position and not committing a foul on Edey.

That said and to your point, that never gets called and never is going to.

Yeah you’re 100% right. I was making a joke but I think it’s a problem that there’s some truth to the joke.

I wish Big Ten refs would just kick Izzo and Fran out in the first five minutes a few games in a row to get the point across. Or suspend them. Or both.

What were you saying about Sensabaugh?

That he carried them early...And he did...

This is all in Holtmann's lap as far as I'm concerned. Get Sueing, Key, and Sensabaugh to play together and they could be a pretty good team...

They did ok at the first of the year...

Let's put it more like this...

At the end of the game when they were making their run, the Buckeyes definitely could have used Sensabaugh. They got within 4, and Likekele turned it over twice. When they had offensive opportunities, they tried to isolate Sueing on Wahl (and Wahl is a pretty good defender)...worked once, but the last 2 times Wahl "Wahlled up" :) on him...They needed someone that could make a tough shot...

Sensabaugh isn't much on the defensive end, and he got an F1 for pushing Wahl to the ground, but I'd take him...I think Woody could make a real player out of him...

.....Ok, Rutgers is chopped liver? Purdue's only loss and at home to the Scarlet Knights.

Good/great team, yes. Unstoppable, no. What were our chances when we beat #1 UK on the Wat shot?

We just have to find a way.

Rutgers and Maryland are the type of teams that will give Purdue trouble in the NCAA. Houston looks like that type of team also.

This from a random Buckeye fan about Holtmann...

and the coach recruits the talent, he doesn't have a GM. I agree he has X's and O's deficiencies, but he also has no discernable style of play that creates a player profile that will be successful in his system, because there is no system, on either end of the floor. It is nondescript McBasketball.

I haven’t seen it posted here, but apparently a Purdue fan got Woody to make a cameo wishing Matty P good luck on his big game Saturday. I’m assuming Woody doesn’t realize who the Matty P here is, but they think it’s pretty hilarious. Nothing funnier than spending $130 to have your rivals coach look like a cool guy.

Sorry. I can take a hint.

I’ll try to stay over on the NFL thread bickering with @btownqb over how bad the colts roster is.

lol...btownqb's my bro... I will say you guys are pretty chill and respectable. It's free board I know. Are there IU fans that regularly post on Purdue's top message board? just curious.

And we have 4 games against the 3 teams above us left.  3 of those 4 at home.  We need to win out at home and steal 1 more on the road.  That probably gets us about as good a seed as we are going to get at this point.  Then you hopefully have X back and make a push in the Tournament.

I saw that yesterday and was trying to post it here, but didn't get around to it. Some Purdue fans were saying that Woody was probably sending it to Purdue as a nice gesture to keep it easy on us. Yeah, I don't think so....
