The last few days a lot of Michigan players are entering the portal. Wonder if they got word that Harbaugh probably isn't coming back next year and will take an NFL job.

Carolina would be the favorite for JH, if they don't retain Wilks. If I'm JH, Carolina is a much better ownership situation and, like the AFC South, the NFC South is wide open.

Someone on the rival site mentioned that we have 13 visitors this weekend.  All are portal kids and one is a QB.

Rumors:

-One is a former top 150 prospect from Texas A&M, a D-Lineman with multiple years left.
with a couple of his teammates, mid-to-high 3*s: https://www.on3.com/college/texas-am-aggies/transfer-portal/wire/football/2023/

-Wake Forest RB who previously played for Michigan: https://www.on3.com/db/christian-turner-23210/

-Two Stanford defensive players, both former solid 3*s, one of them nearly Top 500. https://www.on3.com/college/stanford-cardinal/transfer-portal/wire/football/2023/

-A very productive FCS receiver who is coming off a 1,100 season this year and has almost 3,000 for his  career. I think this is Dequece Carter:
https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/stats/_/id/4426863/dequece-carter

- Wisky RB is also coming: https://www.on3.com/db/isaac-guerendo-49174/

Also, sounds like Chandler Rodgers is not coming this weekend and another QB canceled?

There isn't any QB visitor this week. Rodgers is not visiting and IU isn't gaining much traction with transfer QB's to this point.

Any idea why?  Ignoring the snarky comments about the OL around here, there are only so many starting jobs at Big Ten schools.  You think we’d get some traction with someone.

I've heard some speculation that Bell isn't well liked and there's also the obvious that IU is a sunken ship under Allen and if you're not a grad transfer that could be a scary situation to jump into.

I heard there was another QB coming in this weekend. And if Rodgers chooses Cal, then it's really not a sinking ship situation. They are in just a bad if not worse situation than us considering the conference they play in. Better academics for sure though. Bell isn't well liked by who? Recruits, players other coaches? Who is saying this?

I've just heard that Bell isn't well liked by players, and he hasn't exactly been hitting it off with QB options in the portal. The sinking ship comment was just me speaking in general and not about Rodgers. There is rumor of a QB visiting this weekend, but nothing has been confirmed. We'll see what happens.

If we don’t get a transfer QB we should just revert McCulley back to the position. No way we can have someone back there that is immobile. I was somewhat hoping they’d reach out to Mike Wright from Vanderbilt. Felt like he could have been a decent fit for us…

If we don't get a transfer QB, we're in big trouble.

508 yards on the ground.  Doesn't seem to be completely immobile.

I think we'd take him in a heartbeat.

508 yards on the ground seems pretty mobile to me. Even in the article it says "Nolan is a special talent with his dual-threat abilities and looked phenomenal at times when the offense was in sync..."

He’s a better fit than I originally thought. I wasn’t looking at all of his stats. There still isn’t any confirmation that this rumor is legit so I wouldn’t get to excited yet. He has been interception prone so that is a concern but he has to be better than what IU had this year if it works out.

My concern would be accuracy. As much as Bazelak's immobility hurt us, his propensity to miss everyone high was most cringe worthy for me.

I disagree.

If Camper/DJM are healthy, and OL did their job more consistently.. Connors accuracy would have been fine. Multiple times hit dudes in the #s and they dropped passes. Plus.. he threw out idk how many sacks.

He is not a QB that can operate with direct pressure in his face. He had that nearly every throw he had to make.

Now.. basically every Q we have is going to be under pressure, so we have to have someone that can move to still make a play. Doesn't have to be with their arm at that point.. go pick it the first down with your legs, and that is what Connor couldnt do. He isn't a good enough athlete.

The other thing with a QB that does have the ability to do that.. it makes DL think/become less aggressive when rushing the passer. We saw that with Dexter. Connor Bazelak is quite a bit better of a passer than Dexter is... but Dexter brings more to the table, overall, especially for what WE need.

Caveat-- I firmly understand Connor missed some throws, even when he did have time... but "happy feet" and "feeling the rush" are real things.

Bottom line.. I don't think Conners accuracy, if he played in a 7 on 7 or behind a decent OL, or with his top 2 WRs would really be that big of an issue.... his lack of athleticism still would be, though.
