Prevailing thought on the Tennessee hoops board is that they had a couple of kids unexpectedly return and in summer workouts he saw that his playing time might not be what was promised...

Well…..Is Coach Woodson gonna take another peek to use that last scholly?
….Nobody likes to get shut down twice….JMO

I'll say this...

I'd think at this point in summer workouts/scrimmages, Woody will know if he needs him or not...

Probably a solid guess...

Doubtful I would think. We got Mgbako and the kid from Miami, don't really have a need there anymore.

Funny how 3 months later, we're like: nah, no thanks.

Somebody will have a nice pick-up though. I heard Ledlum was going to be the leading scorer for UT and would've been the lead scorer on our team too. 😎

Can he play the 2?

I’m pretty satisfied with the roster. Wouldn’t mind a combo guard/sharpeshooter that can shoot from distance. More a specialist that would want 8-10 mins a game…but if catches a hot hand could see more mins….but that is probably non existent in the portal. Maybe a grad transfer that would like to jump up and have high major and experience before going to law school or something.

This makes sense, and I don't blame him if so. You have a small window in life to play college basketball.

If he was aware enough to see he may not get the time he wanted, I have no problem with him moving on. These kids have to do what's best for them to enjoy doing what they love while they can.

I can see that. I don’t think he would be in line for the minutes he wants here, either.

You never know what drives people... I don't know what Rick Barnes said to Ledlum to get what by all descriptions was an 11th hour coup for Tennessee over IU. But apparently the reality was different than the promises...

And I'll say this... One of the great things I heard in a post season interview with Jalen was that during his recruiting process, he'd asked a few of his friends who were already playing college basketball what to watch out for, and they told him what a coach or staff tells a kid during recruiting can be vastly different than the reality of playing for a coach...

But Jalen said with Woody, it was nothing like that, and that the reality matched exactly what he'd been told...

I know @Indykev said all coaches are BSers to some degree, and I'm sure he's right... But I think when it comes to the kids, Woody is about as straight of an arrow as you can get...

And I really admire that...

...and we may lose recruits because of this. And that's okay.

Watching the Field of 68 and I guess there are programs not delivering on what they promised when it comes to NIL
